# Payment Methods

> How billing and payments work in SaleTides.

## Accepted payment methods

SaleTides uses **Stripe** for payment processing. The following payment methods are accepted:

* Visa
* Mastercard
* American Express
* Discover
* Other major credit and debit cards supported by Stripe

## Adding a payment method

Navigate to **Settings → Billing** and click **Add Payment Method**. You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page to enter your card details.

Your card details are stored securely by Stripe — SaleTides never stores raw card numbers.

## Billing cycle

* **Monthly plans** — charged on the same date each month (your subscription start date)
* **Annual plans** — charged once per year on your subscription start date

## Invoices

All invoices are available from **Settings → Billing → Billing History**. Each invoice includes:

* Billing period
* Plan name
* Amount charged
* Payment method used

Invoices can be downloaded as PDF for accounting purposes.

## Updating your payment method

To update your card, navigate to **Settings → Billing → Payment Method** and click **Update**. Enter new card details on the Stripe page.

If a payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds), SaleTides will:

1. Retry the charge automatically over the following days
2. Send an email notification about the failed payment
3. Suspend access if the payment cannot be collected after the retry window

## VAT / Tax

If your business is VAT-registered, enter your VAT number on the Billing page. Stripe will apply the appropriate tax treatment based on your billing country.
