Where you can use segments

Once a segment is saved, you can apply it in several places:

1. Filter panel on analytics pages

On any orders, customers, products, or subscriptions page, open the filter panel and select your segment from the Segment dropdown. All metrics, charts, and lists on that page will update to show only records matching the segment.

2. Segment reports

Navigate to Segments → [Your Segment] → View Report to open a dedicated report page for that segment. This shows:
  • Aggregated metrics for records in the segment
  • Revenue, order count, AOV, repeat rate
  • Charts scoped to the segment
  • Downloadable export
Segment reports are the quickest way to answer “how does this group perform overall?“

3. Exports

Apply a segment filter on any page, then click Export to download only the records matching the segment. This is ideal for:
  • Exporting a customer email list for a specific group (e.g., “all customers who haven’t ordered in 60 days”)
  • Exporting orders for a specific product segment
  • Exporting active subscribers on a specific plan

4. Cohort analysis

On the Cohorts page, you can optionally apply a segment to run cohort analysis on a subset of customers. For example:
  • Run cohort retention only for customers acquired via organic search (UTM medium = organic)
  • Compare cohort LTV for UK vs. US customers

Practical workflow examples

”How are my UK customers performing?”

  1. Create a customer segment: Billing Country = United Kingdom
  2. Navigate to Customers
  3. Apply the segment in the filter panel
  4. View all customer metrics filtered to UK only
  5. Export the list for email marketing

”What is the revenue impact of my Black Friday sale?”

  1. Create an order segment: Order date = November 25–30 + Coupon used = BF2024
  2. Navigate to Orders → Segment Report
  3. View total revenue, order count, and AOV for those orders

”Are customers acquired via Google Ads more valuable?”

  1. Create a customer segment: UTM source = google + UTM medium = cpc
  2. Apply the segment on the Cohorts page
  3. Compare LTV at Month 6 and Month 12 to your overall average

Editing and deleting segments

Go to Segments in the sidebar to manage all saved segments. Click a segment name to edit its conditions. Click the delete icon to remove a segment.
Deleting a segment is permanent. Any reports or saved views that used the segment will no longer have it available. You can always recreate it.
